PHYSIOTHERAPY LED PILATES CLASSES
for Mothers and Babies
*PILATEBABY CLASSES *
Rehabilitate. Restore. Release.
Elizabeth is a fully certified Pilates instructor with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) and thus practices a form of ‘modified Pilates’. As well as practicing Musculoskeletal therapy Elizabeth is also an experienced Pelvic Health Physiotherapist which increases the repertoire of exercises available when constructing class plans. Teaching can be easily adapted for birth experience, pain, current levels of ability and function, therefore increasing accessibility of the Pilates exercises for everyone post partum. Pilates is based on a set of key principles which exercise the whole body and our Postnatal Pilates classes offer one of the safest and most effective ways to strengthen, release, realign and get back into shape after having a baby. It quickens postpartum recovery and strengthens the body and mind for the new demands of motherhood.

Our EAPP Pilatebaby classes are suitable for mothers with babies 6 weeks old until on the move. Learn and practice specialist graded exercises taught by a highly experienced Women’s Health Physiotherapist. There is social time with a drink and treat after the class to meet other mums and babies.
The Pilatebaby class will focus on:

- Improving your pelvic floor, core and whole-body strength.
- Improving your rib control, flexibility and breathing pattern.
- Increasing your fitness levels to return to hobbies/sport/running.
- Enhance your postural awareness & strengthen your mind–body connection.
- Provide a safe place for Mothers to socialise, have a drink and treat, bond with their baby and introduce them to other babies

At EAPP you can feel assured that exercises will be performed safely, effectively and modified when possible to the appropriate level for you under the expert guidance of a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist with over 15 years’ experience.

Mummy MOT Assessments
The Postnatal Check You Deserve

A Mummy MOT is a specialist postnatal examination for women following both vaginal and C-section deliveries. It will assess how your posture, pelvic floor muscles and stomach muscles are recovering after childbirth. Elizabeth, your Mummy MOT practitioner, will provide you with gentle exercises and treatment to help with your recovery and get you back on track with your fitness goals. Up to half of all women experience weakness in both the abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy and up to a third still have a tummy gap at eight weeks post-birth. This can cause instability or poor core strength leading to women developing pelvic or back pain or bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction. These conditions should not be something you should just put up with as a result of having a baby.

It’s recommended that women have an initial assessment at around 6-8 weeks postnatal, but we also treat women who gave birth years ago that may still have a tummy gap or related pelvic floor issues.

A Mummy MOT will include a:

-
Full postural screen.
-
Pelvic floor muscle assessment.
-
Abdominal muscle exam to check for any separation.
-
Screening for bladder, bowel or sexual dysfunction.
-
Education and advice on safe activities such as lifting your baby or pushing a buggy.
-
Bespoke rehabilitation programme with your goals and lifestyle factors in mind.
